Senior Adeline Johnson Wins MCAL Championship

Branson senior Adeline Johnson returned from a season-long injury to win the MCAL Championship with a stellar 17:39 time on the 3-mile College of Marin Indian Valley Campus course. Alexa Polsky (19:21 - 8th) and Katya Crawford (20:26 - 19th) also posted career best times and places during their final MCAL Championship race on the way to 1st and 2nd team all league honors respectively. 

A mix of upper and underclassmen rounded out Branson’s varsity race squad, with Imogen Brown ’25, Elizabeth Kushelevsky ’23, Genesis Orellana ’25, Paige Macy ’23, and Elena Trimble ’26 placing 4-8th in the Bulls lineup. 

For the boys, sophomore Jasper James (16:44) ran a strong race to place 22nd, while Brody Buxton (18:15) added to an impressive string of finishes by placing number two for the Bulls. Senior Max Gutierrez (19:03) paced a promising pack of young runners including Luke Vilhauer ’26, Zander Alpert 26, and Kyle Penczak ’26 to round out the varsity places for the Bulls. 

In the JV boys race, Christopher Mao (20:05) finished 25th overall to lead Cyrus Allen, Theo Zak, and Aiden Ding, all of whom wrapped up their seasons in fine form.

The girls and boys varsity squads will be racing at Hayward High School this Saturday morning at the North Coast Section Championships.
