Get involved. Make a difference.

At Branson, we belong to each other and to the world. We redefine privilege as the opportunity to serve others and make positive change.

Branson’s Community Engagement encourages students to seek out opportunities beyond Branson to engage with fellow members of our shared community. We believe that the most meaningful experiences are ones in which students build relationships and truly partner for positive change, so for over thirty years we’ve been nurturing relationships with nonprofits and community service organizations, both locally and nationally.

Do you have a passion for environmental action? Love working with children? Want to share your artistic or athletic talents? Love to teach or coach? We’ll help match you with opportunities to share your talents and get involved – or help you create your own.

One of the things I love about Branson is that all the kids really enjoy doing community engagement. We see it less as a requirement and more as a fun way to get involved with our community. This is a big part of the culture at Branson and, in my opinion, is one of the things that Branson students do best… At Branson, kids will help out their community after they have completed all their required hours, just because they want to.Jamie Klein ‘22

Program Requirements

90 hours in your four years at Branson.

Students must complete 5 Core and 10 Support hours in the ninth grade, and 15 Core and 10 Support hours in each year of the tenth, eleventh and twelfth grades.

  • For Core hours, students work directly with people in need.
  • For Support hours, students indirectly help those in need. School service (at Branson) is also counted as Support.

In ninth grade, students can apply a maximum of 10 School service hours toward their Support hour requirement. 10th to 12th grades can fulfill up to five Support hours through school service.

Community engagement at Branson is not just about doing. Our program also challenges students to meaningfully and critically reflect on their service. All students are required to write reflections that conceptualize community and elaborate on their experiences, values, and personal growth.
